The Program

R25 PREP-Omics: The UCLA Department of Pediatrics Research Education Program in Bioinformatics, Omics, and Computational Biology is a 12-week program (October-December) funded by the NICHD (5R25HD109116) for UCLA Pediatric subspecialty fellows and Pediatric residents who are interested in expanding their education in bioinformatics and computational biology. The program leverages UCLA’s resources and expertise in bioinformatics, omics, and computational biology to provide targeted education for Pediatric graduate medical trainees. It focuses on bridging knowledge and skill gaps while enhancing research training in big data analysis.

Components of the program include:

  • Didactic lectures
  • Bioinformatics workshops taught through the UCLA Quantitative Computational Biosciences (QCB) Collaboratory
  • Trainee-led journal clubs
  • Opportunities to present research and form a network with knowledgeable academics

The recorded program content (didactic lectures and journal clubs) is available to any Pediatric fellow and residents nationally as an educational resource.
